Calgary municipal election, 2013
The 2013 Calgary municipal election was held Monday, October 21, 2013 to elect a mayor and 14 councillors to the city council, the seven trustees to the Calgary School District (each representing 2 of 14 wards), and five of the seven trustees to the Calgary Catholic School District (each representing 2 of 14 wards). Two incumbent separate school trustees had no challengers. From 1968 to 2013, provincial legislation has required every municipality to hold elections every three years.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.assembly.ab.ca/Documents/isysquery/eb838767-99dd-456d-8493-9de4846db5ed/1/doc/ )〕 The Legislative Assembly of Alberta passed a bill on December 5, 2012, amending the Local Authorities Election Act.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.assembly.ab.ca/net/index.aspx?p=bill§ion=doc&legl=28&session=1 )〕 Starting with the 2013 elections, officials are elected for a four-year term, and municipal elections are moved to a four-year cycle.
The 14 electoral wards will once again be represented by a single member on council, although the wards will change slightly from the current term.
